The Plow Keeps Plowing: Why Consistent Action Is a Wilderness Navigation Skill

You launched the thing. You showed up for three weeks. You did the work even when it felt like nobody was watching.

And then week four came, and the results weren’t dramatic enough, and it felt stupid to keep going, so you didn’t.

If that sentence landed in a specific place, keep reading.

Here’s a number worth knowing: 90% of podcasts don’t make it past episode 3. Not because the hosts ran out of ideas. Not because they were bad at it. Because they quit before the results showed up.

Of the 10% who make it past episode 3, another 90% quit before episode 20.

Do the math. Episode 21 puts you in the top 1% of podcasters globally.

I know this because the Hardcore and At Ease podcast hit episode 22 in November 2025. Top 1% worldwide. Not because the audio was perfect — it wasn’t. Not because I had a big audience waiting — I didn’t. Because I kept showing up on Tuesdays when I had no proof it was working.

But I’ve been sitting with something since then: this isn’t really a podcast story.

This is a wilderness navigation story.

Because the same pattern that kills podcasts at episode 3 is the pattern that gets us — women who’ve been trained to measure results in a short-game military framework, then found ourselves in long-game civilian terrain with no map, no mentor, and no standard for what “working” even looks like.

Perfectionism dressed up as preparation. Caution dressed up as strategy. Quitting dressed up as discernment.

If you’ve been waiting for proof before you commit, this post is for you.
